Our history

Les Moulins Familiaux is a story of flour but also a story of family, that of the Maurey family. In 1903, Fernand Maurey bought Moulins de Chars, then known as Moulins du Vexin. Later, the family bought Moulins de Chérisy (28 - Eure et Loir), Moulin Paul Dupuis (76 - Seine-Maritime) and Moulins de Brasseuil (78 - Yvelines). Discover all the details of this wonderful family adventure!

1903-1946: Reopening and expansion

Fernand Maurey reopened the Moulins de Chars, which had been closed for 20 years: he developed the mill and, in collaboration with an associate, created the Petit Meunier magazine, which later became La Dépêche.

At the end of WW2, the mill was on the verge of bankruptcy.
René Maurey, son of Fernand and Pauline, then a farmer in Chars, took over management of the mill.

1966-1981: Growth and modernization

François and Jean Maurey, sons of René, succeeded their father and took advantage of the opening to competition to grow. The mill then ground 35,000 kg per day with a total quota of 4,725,000 kg. At the time, there were no fewer than 4,000 mills across France.

Following strong growth, a brand-new mill was built, with a crushing capacity of 180 tons/day.

1990-2010: Diversification and innovation

Moulins de Chars continued to evolve, developing functional flours.

In 1996, the Maurey family bought Moulins de Chérisy, followed by Moulin Paul Dupuis in 2000.

Thomas Maurey took over management of Chérisy in 2001.

In 2007, the family joined forces with Lionel Deloingce, who took over the management of Moulin Paul Dupuis in Normandy.

2015-2025: Sector development

The creation of the «Les Moulins Familiaux» brand marks the union of the four mills under a single identity.

This marked the beginning of a decade of modernization: renovation of equipment, improvement of production lines, and strengthening of quality and food safety standards. A decisive step in structuring the industry and preparing for the future.

OUR CSR COMMITMENTS

At Les Moulins Familiaux, we believe that a responsible company is one that takes care of people, the environment and its territory. That's why we've embarked on a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program at each of our sites.

In concrete terms, this means not only reducing our environmental impact, but also promoting the well-being of our employees and supporting a sustainable, local business model.

We've joined the Convention des Entreprises pour le Climat, we will soon be carrying out our first carbon audit, and we've recently invested in our first electric truck.

On a daily basis, we work with very short supply chains, sourcing as close as possible to our mills to promote local products.
